Short links and click tracking
Create a readable link, inspect its destination and understand click reports.
A short link redirects visitors to a longer URL. It can provide click reporting, but click counts are not the same as unique people or completed sales.
Create and test
-
Paste a URL into the composer and use Shorten if offered, or open Link Shortener and choose the create action.
-
Enter the complete target URL. Add a source or campaign tag when useful.
-
Create the link, then open it and verify the final page.
-
Inspect the caption after replacement, including any tracking parameters and character count.
-
Save or publish through the normal composer workflow.
Read and change links
Open a link's detail to see the available click timeline and referrers. Bots and repeated visits may influence counts; compare with your website analytics before drawing conclusions. If Edit destination is available, remember that changing it affects every old post or document using that same short link. Verify the new destination and preserve needed campaign records.
Deactivate or use another service
Deactivating a link can break access from already published content. Inspect where it is used first. If the workspace offers an external shortener integration, follow its displayed setup and read where click analytics will be recorded; they may live in that service rather than Social.
