Triage a social item
-
Open Inbox in Social and filter by platform, type or status.
-
Choose an item and read the full message, original post and available conversation context.
-
Check the responding account and whether the reply will be public or private.
-
Write a reply or use Draft reply if offered. Review facts, tone and any promise before sending.
-
Send deliberately and inspect the result. Resolve or dismiss items that need no further response.
Understand coverage
Not every connected network exposes every conversation type. Publishing permission alone does not guarantee direct-message access. Check supported account types, permissions and sync status when an expected item is missing. Dismissal usually changes your work queue; it is not the same as deleting the original message from the network. Read moderation action labels carefully when an action affects visibility.
Repeated questions
Use Social reply rules for recurring patterns and Social moderation for classification and supported moderation actions. Start with review so you can inspect behavior before any automatic external replies.
Read sync status before diagnosing missing activity
The current Inbox separates Comments, DMs and Inbox Automations; these are the interface’s exact labels. Check the last-fetch indicator, account filter and sync controls. A loading or unavailable sync label is not proof that there are no messages. Check again after the page finishes loading.
Publishing access and Inbox access differ. If an expected item is still missing, check that account’s permissions and supported item types, then use the offered fetch action. Review the full context and responding account before sending any reply.
